Classic Black and White Wedding Inspiration

I always come back to a simple black and white color palette. It’s a go-to that stands the test of time whether we’re talking about home decor, fashion or wedding design. And this inspiration shoot is total proof. It’s classic elegance crafted by Clayton Austin and Taylor Lord along with green filled florals by Without Wax Katy, that prove black and white are here to stay.

That gorgeous engagement session inspiration can only be outdone by the wedding shoot that followed suit. Have a look at the handiwork of all these great talents who brought our favorite black and white color combo to life.

From Love Is A Bird PhotographyWhen Taylor Lord and I decided to host a small intimate workshop in our hometown of Austin, Texas we knew we would want to style the shoots to perfection. With a modern classic vibe in mind we focused on shades of blacks, whites, and grays while pulling in the greens from the beautiful ivy covered walls and concrete architecture of South Congress Street. The idea was that for the engagement session the groom would wear varying shades of black while she wore white and then switching it up for the wedding day shoot with her in an amazing black gown from Free People and him in a crisp white Vera Wang tuxedo jacket and a black velvet bow tie. Taylor made the concrete candle pillars in different sizes and heights giving the table a sense of dimension while Katy from Without Wax Katy did an incredible job with the green table runner, bouquet, and boutonnieres. I made the cake finishing it with stark black butter cream icing. Finally we tied everything together using black velvet ribbon throughout the shoot.

From Without Wax KatyIt’s in letting the stunning landscape do all the talking, with a few well-edited nods of color and style infused along the way that makes everything come together flawlessly. The 12 foot runner is ripe with layers of eucalyptus foliage, texture and organic goodness. It seamlessly blends in with the beauty of the natural surroundings with the coordination of modern details set in the middle of this Austin oasis. Focusing on a simple and clean color palette of white, green, black and gray, the bouquet of soft peonies, ranunculus and anemones contrasted in all the right ways with the black wedding gown. From the extraordinary play on black and white to the floral details on the cake and in bride’s hair, this styled workshop is a sure fire way to find to find yourself lost in its beauty for hours on end.

Springtime Wedding in Brooklyn

Spring might be a good nine months away, but the second I locked eyes with this Brooklyn Botanic Garden wedding I’ve been hoping and praying it’d show up a wee bit sooner. With trees in all their fully bloomed splendor, there’s never been a more perfect setting to swap vows, and Rebecca Yale documented the day in gorgeous fashion. Have a peek right here!

From Rebecca Yale… Kelsey and Noah’s Spring wedding in the Brooklyn Botanical gardens was a true celebration of Spring and love! After a terrible winter in New York City we felt Spring would never come, but on the day of Kelsey and Noah’s wedding the skies cleared, the sun shined on the newly blossomed cherry blossoms and we were given a perfect Spring day. Kelsey and Noah were married under the shade of a beautiful tree in a meadow in the gardens and then celebrated with their friends and family in the Palm House at Brooklyn Botanical Gardens. The afternoon felt like a joyous garden party and they let the beauty of the gardens and the flowers take center stage, picking up the light pink of the cherry blossoms throughout the day in the details from the bride’s shoes to the groom’s tie.

Light poured in from the glass roof of the palm house giving the laser cut place cards and menus a beautiful dimensionality as it created shadows on the white table cloths. The guests were serenaded by a 3-piece band with oldies, each song hand chosen by Kelsey. Perfectly fitting the garden party motif, the bride and groom gave cans of seeds as a thank you to their guests before making a grand exit through a cascade of yellow and pink rose petals to a vintage yellow taxi.

It was so wonderful to capture genuine moments of love and joy between Kelsey and Noah. I knew they would be so much fun to photograph when we first met and she told me- “We both love the color green, spicy food, and, of course, each other.” Kelsey even had inscribed in Noah’s ring “I love you most” one of my favorite details of the day!

Classic Vineyard Wedding with a Pop of Color

Loads of color isn’t for everyone but a little pop of hue is a universal language in the color department. It takes this classic white wedding and infuses it with a pretty citrus punch of blooms by Daisy Rose Flowers and images of the day that have solidified our love affair with Em The Gem. Have a look here for more including polka dot dresses and a wedding gown that dreams are made of.

From The Bride…Brian and I both knew we wanted to get married in the San Francisco Bay Area, and after looking in the city and wine country, we knew that Viansa was the place. The setting there was just gorgeous and the staff, especially our coordinator Cortney, took care of everything perfectly. Brian grew up in Sonoma, so it meant a lot to us to have our wedding in his hometown, close to his family. Our ceremony was outside in the courtyard, and then we moved up to the terrace for cocktail hour, and finished with dinner and dancing in the tent. We loved bringing the bright colors of orange and yellow into our flowers, table settings, and other touches to add some whimsy to the wedding. We also added some personal touches to the ceremony, with our custom vows and a special yoga blessing at the end. We went with mini cupcakes and ice cream cones for dessert vs a traditional wedding cake, and my mom added a family recipe of lemon cookies to top it off.

Picture Perfect Tips for the Newly Engaged Bride with Invisalign®

Newly engaged? Get ready to show your pearly whites, my dears, because a bride will have over 300 photos taken in the time from “I will” to “I do!” So naturally, you’ll need to look your best. We’ve teamed up with Invisalign® and TV lifestyle expert, Justine Santaniello  — who’s tying the knot in November — to share some picture perfect pointers for you and your honey!

SMP: What is the best piece of advice you’ve received before your big day?

Justine: The best piece of advice I have received is to go with your gut and be as decisive as possible. As a bride you have a lot of decisions to make and for me in particular choosing a venue that’s a blank space makes for even more decisions. You have to trust yourself, you know what you like, you know what your aesthetic is, go with it! Consult your fiancée of course, maybe your mother or a bridesmaid but ultimately its up to you. The more decisive you are the easier things will be and you will notice everything gets done a lot faster when you aren’t wasting time going back and forth.

SMP: What is the look you’re going for on your big day?

Justine: The look I want to achieve for myself is very similar to the overall look I want for our wedding. Classic and romantic with a twist of modern. My dress is unlike any other wedding gown I have seen before, very detailed, fitted, textured, and a little sexy. I’m looking to have long flowy, loose curls with a natural yet dramatic look for with my makeup. Overall I want to feel confident and comfortable!

SMP: How did your experience with Invisalign help get you ready for your big day?

Justine: One of the most important things I could tell other brides is to take steps now to make sure you look and feel your best for your wedding day! For me, I wanted to start a skincare routine to get that glowing complexion, I wanted to look fit so I started a light workout routine and I wanted to have the perfect smile so I started Invisalign treatment! And now, my smile is one hundred times better than I even imagined it could be. Since I’ve been in treatment with my Manhattan-based orthodontist, Dr. Gail Schupak my teeth are perfectly straight and that space I have had forever – is gone! The process has helped me take my overall oral care more seriously. I now look at it as any other beauty routine!

SMP: What is the top tip that your bride friends have given you before you walk down the aisle?

Justine: I’m so lucky to have friends that have recently been married or are engaged as well, so they are my go-to’s for all questions and concerns. The piece of advice that sticks out the most is to really take in the moment while you walk down the aisle and to walk slowly! Make sure to memorize his face looking at you as much as possible, hold on tight to whoever is walking with you, and take in the fact that everyone in that room is there for you and to celebrate you!

There you have it, some amazing tips from a fabulous bride-to-be! Ready to get started with your Invisalign treatment? For more information, head over here. Smile big, my dears! xo
